My story
I’m an east coast based end-to-end product designer who loves decoding everyday problems. After graduating with a degree in graphic design, I transitioned into designing apps and products, with 3 years of experience as a Product and User Experience Designer, 6 years as a User Interface Designer, and 8 years as a Graphic Designer.
The beginning of my UI Design career started during my time at Interior Design Magazine where I primarily focused on print layout, branding design, and marketing ads layout; while I also freelanced various projects, designing the user interface for mobile and web apps. After gaining valuable on-the-job and freelance experience in UI, I took on a lead UI/UX Designer role (and sole) at two startups, Presentr, a public speaking coaching app with gamification (which I designed and created), during that time I was also moonlighting for Webveloper (a web platform that generates a quick simple websites through a question form) and then Gro, a web app for budding entrepreneurs, teaching new founders different steps to get their business launched and funded.
An app can look visually pretty, but it would not serve any purpose, unless the user's experience is considered thoughtfully. UX is very important to make the user's journey effortless without any confusion. In order to come up with solutions and user scenarios, I managed a/b testing and focus groups, to capture insight on what's needed or not for an app. When designing I keep in mind to have a bridge between visual aesthetics and purposeful functionally with minimal user actions (clicks, swipes and scrolls) to eliminate any unnecessary clicks and confusion to the user. Users should access content in the quickest interaction and in a creative way. I’ve also done onboarding modules for apps, helping users to learn the app rather than diving into a void.
I like to think of myself as a design chameleon, mixing my experience in UI/UX with my fine arts degree. I’m an artist and designer across multiple art mediums and devices — from designing user experience flows in apps to branding event themes or creating layout designs for publications and even fine arts like painting, crocheting, and illustration. I like to learn new ways to be creative, and I’m always up for a new challenge… Bring it on!
